DJ WOODY (2XWORLD CHAMP) DOING TURNTABLES IN TECHNICOLOR...

Described by the Scratch Perverts as “One of the most creative forces in DJing the UK scene has ever produced”, twice World Champion, Lee Woodvine, aka DJ Woody, is known for his innovations… He pioneered a host of groundbreaking scratch techniques and helped Vestax design the world’s first ever musical turntable. For the last decade he’s also been the ‘go-to man’ for the industry’s most revered producers and MCs and his unrivalled visual performance show ‘Turntables in Technicolor’ has taken the world by storm ten times over.

Put it this way, in the last 6 months alone DJ Woody has… appeared on the BBC’s Bafta winning student TV show The Slammer, completed tours of China, India and Canada, performed his show in the middle of London’s St Pancras, warmed up for acid house legends The Happy Mondays at their recent gig on the Isle of Man and seen the 2010 Turntables in Technicolor DMC world finals showcase released on DVD!

His Turntables in Technicolor show was born upon the concept to produce a completely original, eye-popping & crowd-rocking audio/visual DJ performance using 100% bespoke material that would not only push the envelope visually and sonically but also raise the bar of live AV manipulation. Snowballing in popularity and critical acclaim with every show he does, jaws have now been floored at the world’s biggest festivals and venues and his profile gained visible pace.

When not continually sourcing new material for his Technicolor’s debut NYC show, you will currently find Woody working hard in the studio on the first edition of his upcoming mix series ‘Technicolor Tapes Vol. 1’; a format set to showcase the encompassing sound of the Turntables in Technicolor show. Mix number one will feature UK rap luminary Dr Syntax of the Foreign Beggars, and ongoing you can expect collaborations with more of the scene’s most respected names.

As 2011 progresses, Woody will receive untold notoriety with his appearance at the US DMC finals in NYC – being that he is the first ever non-US artist to be invited to showcase here. His relentless tour schedule will also push on with long awaited appearances across Brazil, Asia, Europe and the US as well as regular shows in his native UK and he will continue working hard on new concepts and animations to take Turntables in Technicolor to the next level for 2012.

For the man that can hold his own in collaborations and performances with everyone from Snoop Dogg and the Beastie Boys to Mala Rodriguez and a twenty-five piece big band orchestra, let alone showcase sounds and visuals you only thought achievable through taking a sizeable quantity of hallucinogens, the future is looking more than bright, the future is Technicolor.

DIESLER...

Diesler’s first release was Cotton Wool, part of Tru Thoughts Shapes One compilation: despite being written when he was only 20, the song still found its way onto Radio 1, a massive achievement for a debut track. This success was followed with the Ladies and Gentlemen Get Your Engines Ready EP in June 2004; a mixture of smooth, laid-back vibes and up tempo beats, from jazz and funk to Latin rhythms, it showcased Dieslers globe-trotting sound, and magpie-like ear for the best samples, to devastating effect.

He followed that up with his debut album & double vinyl EP releases Diggin It Somethin Rotten in April 2005 and a calendar year later with Keepie Uppies, both of which are on the Tru Thoughts label. His 3rd album, The Rhythm Station, was released in October 2007 on Freestyle Records and a remixes compilation, ‘Tracks On The Rocks’ in 2009. He has just completed work on the next Diesler LP which is due out on Social Beats/Unique in 2010.

Aside from his own work Diesler has been remixing all over the place for labels including Ninja Tune (UK), Jugglin/Raw Fusion (Sweden), Hi Top (Spain), Schema (Italy), Tru Thoughts (UK), Catskills (UK), Freestyle (UK) Sunday Best (UK), Soultage (Japan), Record Kicks (Italy).

Away from the studio Diesler has been putting the miles of late making DJ appearances at Festivals both in the UK, Europe & Japan, from UK super clubs Chibuku Shake Shake (Liverpool) & The End (London) to many respected club nights across the world. Also this year he puts the 8 piece band, ‘Diesler Live Experience’, on the road performing tunes from the Diesler catalogue.

In addition to all his original work Diesler produced 2 songs for Tru Thoughts vocalist Kinny on her ‘Idle Forest Of Chit Chat’ LP and has worked on the soul project ‘Laura Vane & The Vipertones’ whose debut LP came out in August 2009 gaining support from Jonathan Ross, Mark Lemarr & Craig Charles (BBC Radio, UK).

2011 has seen Diesler spread his musical tentacles further into writing, including an electronic project with Tru Thoughts producer Azaxx and producing 2 songs with Azaxx for the forthcoming Lizzy Parks album. Djing jaunts have included visits to Switzerland, The Netherlands and Dubai plus remixing duties have been completed for Switchstance Records and Record Kicks.

RED VENOM AND DJ POZ...

Mickey AKA Red Venom was born 26th September 1973. A musical family inspired Mickey to rap, write and sing from a very early age. Eventually at college, DJ Pressure encouraged Mickey to take part in an anti racism talent show at college. Winning this gave him the confidence to battle and perform regularly in the Manc hip hop scene!Red Venom has had the pleasure of working with artists such as Roni Size, Donald D.(THE B BOYS), Soundbowi killas, DJ slice, Artful Dodger, The Freestylers, UK Rock Steady Crew, Tim Dogg, The Prodigy, Robbie Reveira, Laidback ,royce da 59,joel ortiz.

From then, Red Venom became a fierce contender on the battle rapping stage, featuring in many championing events at Fat City Records, Grand Central and Fever in Manchester. He headed a Jazz & Funk group called Frantic, who toured the UK for three years between '94 & '97. Playing at Happy Jacks in London for a number of record launches, as well as The Boardwalk and PJ Bells in Manchester, the sound of Frantic was similar to that of the Brand New Heavies.

Red Venom sent his sound out through Manchester's Pirate Radio stations & underground clubs, featuring on regular radio nights and live events such as Body Rock at The Roadhouse.After being spotted at The Roadhouse in 1999, Red Venom was signed to Around The World Records on a two single deal (Let's Get It On & Follow Me). These releases featured on several Hollywood feature films such as Miss Congeniality, Bewitched, Sex in the city and also on mtv base.

In early 2007 Red Venom met North West Music Producers and Musician and Nick hussy and Magic mike, who together with the finest local music talent began work on his latest project, Dirty Old Town.

SATURDAY NIGHT GYM CLUB…

Joining the musical dots across the Irish Sea, Saturday Night Gym Club is an Anglo-Irish collective of electronic storytellers. They deftly weave threads of organic pop brilliance into the fabric of bass-heavy dancefloor euphoria. Emerging from the dry ice, you hear irresistibly catchy vocal melodies. A galaxy of assorted synths, drum machines and violins form textures which are state-of-the-art and deeply resonant. SNGC's material was self-produced on an array of machines, in a multitude of locations, with no fixed studio. Each musical thread therefore inherits the inevitable influence of the environment in which it was created. Hours upon hours spent on crawling trains, endless conference calls and too many emails. From this pandemonium, something eloquent, unique and beautiful emerged. The new track ‘I know’ features the enchanting voice of singer-songwriter Ellie Walker. It sports analogue synth parts written on the Northwest tip of Ireland, with drums engineered on a flight into Edinburgh.

Andrew has been dj'ing for well over 20 years, cutting his teeth as a house dj. Over the last 2 years Andrew as moved over to disco and boogie, and more importantly producing and editing. Fast forward to today and things have really picked up for Andrew. His edits have been played by the likes of Greg Wilson, Dimitri From Paris, Rayko, Leftside Wobble and many more!! He had his first release in April which gained support from the likes of Alexander Robotnick, Downtown Party Network & Legendary 1979 Orchestra And acheived number four in the Nu-Disco download charts conitiniung to stay highly placed still. SKAPHOID VS MIIM...

Skaphoid aka Mr Biscuits aka Dj Standaloft has been rocking funky beats for over a decade now. Initailally creating eclectic mixes in the days of vinyl for underground club nights - Cowboy Tactics, Faderfunk and Renegade. Now also a producer, his style has remained varied but leaning towards the darker side of electronica, dubstep and glitch hop. His latest projects include djing for hip-hop true schoolers Too Many T's and cyberfunk live show as skaphoid vs miim. Whatever skaphoid does expect it to be heavy!

miim is a prolific producer of electronic music covering just about every genre. From jungle to idm with everything in between, all styles benefit for the miim treatment. Using vintage synths and tape echo machines along with an mpc 2000 and a nord, miim crafts music that has his distinctive stamp. Live shows can range from controllerism sets to full hardware beat downs and have been witnessed by crowds all over the UK.

THIRD THUMB…"Third Thumb are a mythical multi-instrumental duo, emerging from the rolling hills and abandoned mills of North West England. The band use a labyrinth of loops, delays, toys and samplers, mixing electronics with a mish-mash of acoustic and electric instruments. They’ve had unfinished songs played on BBC radio and have been compared to the likes of Growing, Radiohead, Battles, The Residents, Steve Reich, This Heat and Efterklang, whilst managing to sound little like any of them.

The band are due to release an EP for winter and have spent the last year and a half working out how to physically play the stuff live. Expect the unexpected.
